Title:    On the Geoghegan conjecture.

Abstract: A homotopy idempotent self-map on a closed connected manifold
should be homotopic to a map with a single fix-point. We shall discuss the
status and context of this conjecture, as well as related problems. This
is joint work with J. Berrick and G. Mislin.
