*Speaker: ** *Yash Lodha (Cornell University)
*Title: * A geometric solution to the von Neumann-Day problem for finitely
presented groups.

*Abstract:* I will describe a group of piecewise projective homeomorphisms
of the real line which is finitely presented, nonamenable and does not
contain nonabelian free subgroups. (This is joint work with Justin Tatch
Moore.)
